Hierro

The murder of a young man during his stag night in El Hierro, the tiniest westernmost island in The Canaries, is shrouded in mystery and manages to unsettle his close-knit community in which everyone lives in each other's pockets and the slight misconduct soon becomes an open secret. Candela, the new strong-willed judge, has just landed on the remote island and is seriously struggling to come to terms with its deep-rooted ancestral traditions and the laidback attitude of its people. In order to track down the killer who will not stop short of striking again, she tries the case while embarking with gritty determination on an unrelenting and frenetic investigation alongside a smattering of police officers. In the meantime, Diaz, a shady local head honcho with a murky past, arouses everyone's suspicions of having blood on his hands, but the islanders seem to know more than they are willing to let on, which hinders the progress of Candela's quest for the killer and, much more so, Diaz's all-out effort to prove his questionable innocence.
