The Rift: Dark Side of the Moon
Liz Waid's son is in a coma with cancer when she is called back to duty by the CIA after a two-year absence. She is partnered with Agents John Smith and Professor Erik Dysart to check on a reconnaissance satellite that has come down in Serbia. It may have sensitive information and technology. Serbia insists that they have a representative in the recovery effort, Darko. The signal that they have been following leads to an abandoned factory and large house nestled on the outskirts of a forest. As the team begins to investigate, they encounter a strange young man, Lazar, who is only partially coherent. When they follow him to the house, they are shot at, one shot hitting Darko in the abdomen. Eventually, they are able to kill the man who was shooting at them. John and Liz search the home while Dysart cares for Darko. Liz stumbles upon an astronaut in an intact spacesuit. When Dysart appears, he is astounded to find Robert Henley, a fellow crew mate from a classified Apollo mission on the dark side of the moon. He disappeared 35 years ago in 1976 when he approached a glowing purple ring hanging above the ground. He hasn't been seen since. It is his spacesuit that is the source of the signal that sent to team into Serbia. Agent Smith goes rogue, and Liz has to fend for herself. She, too, encounters the purple portal ring. As she looks through it, she sees an astronaut who reaches through and grabs her crucifix necklace. Later, Dysart admits that it was he who did that when he went back to view the portal a second time. He has been wearing that necklace since then. People who should be dead, suddenly are not.
