Once a year, safe-breaker Willie T. Soke--a misanthropic and chronically depressed wreck of a man--wakes up from his annual slumber to team up with Marcus, his ill-tempered partner in crime. Indeed, the two miscreants have devised a simple but ingenious plan: Willie poses as a department store Santa, and Marcus is his trusted elf-helper. This way, they have been cracking safes for nearly eight years now. However, nothing lasts forever. As Willie's professional incompetence and a hawk-eyed mall security chief in Phoenix threaten the foolproof plan, Thurman Merman, a lonely 8-year-old kid, somehow finds his way into miserable Soke's black heart. But with the scheme on the verge of falling apart, can Willie afford to get into the Christmas spirit?
