Country Strong
While five months pregnant, country music superstar Kelly Canter, drunk with a blood alcohol level of 0.19, trips on stage in a concert in Dallas, the fall resulting in her losing the baby. As such, she goes into alcohol rehab. There, she befriends an orderly, Beau Hutton, a singer songwriter who performs at local bars. He doesn't believe love and fame can coexist, he generally choosing the former. His and Kelly's relationship becomes more than just friends. Kelly is ultimately released one month earlier than scheduled, following which her business manager husband, James Canter, who has been with her since before fame hit her life, plans a short three city tour through Texas as her comeback, that tour culminating at the scene of the crime, Dallas. Although they still do love each other, their relationship currently is more as business manager and talent than husband and wife. While Kelly wants Beau as her opening act on this tour, James instead is leaning toward hiring an up and coming singer, Chiles Stanton, a former beauty queen who has had issues with stage fright. Based on her pageant training, she overcompensates for what she believes are the deficiencies in herself. Based on what he sees at Chiles' performance at a local bar where Beau is also performing, James decides to hire both, hoping that they will perform as a duo, which Beau refuses. Kelly believes Chiles wants to sleep her way to the top, either already having entered into an affair with James, or will do so during the tour. The interrelationships between the four during the tour will have a profound effect on what happens to them post-tour, most specifically if Kelly and Chiles will be able to overcome their specific insecurities to blossom personally and professionally, and if Beau will be sucked into the want for fame after playing the arena venues.
