The Bastards Fig Tree
In 1939, at the end of the Spanish Civil War, a squad of soldiers of the La Falange (a fascist politic party) execute to a father and his older son under the accusation to be traitors to the country. One of the soldiers, trigger happy Rogelio, shocks after to be looked by the younger son, obsessed with the idea that one day the child kill him when he grow up. After to discover that the child buried himself to his father and older brother and above the grave he was put a little branch of a fig tree, Rogelio decides care of it in his wish to flourish a big fig tree. Helped by Cipriana, Mayor Benito's wife, Rogelio turns in a hermit, always avoiding that Ermo (greedy sneaker who made the accusation that caused the two crimes in order to appropriate the farm of his neighbors) digs the grave looking for the money that the father had in the clothes when he was killed. With the pass of the years Rogelio's field turns in a place of religious peregrination with the villagers looking for miracles. The new fame of Rogelio and his fig tree causes that Pedro Alberto, leader of the former killer squad at young and now a wealthy businessman, gets anger by the uncomfortable remember of the crime happened. Trying remove Rogelio and the fig tree from the grave to erase the crime, Rogelio's rejection to move himself unleashes Pedro Alberto's hate, who not will stop until to make disappear all evidence from the past.
